Wirral’s R’n’B singer Mikey Matteo is back for Children In Need night

WIRRAL’S own R ‘n’ B singer Mikey Matteo is returning to the borough this week to make a one-off appearance at Mosslands School in Wallasey.

The 19-year-old from Birkenhead will be performing at a special Children in Need night organised by the school’s sixth form.

The singer, songwriter and producer aims to play all the sounds on his recordings himself, from drum beats to guitar riffs.

Mikey has also created original sound samples from objects like drinks cans, kitchen utensils and even a toilet seat.

His new songs cover a range of musical genres and include the dance anthem “Whisper in the Dark”, R ‘n’ B track “The One” and love song “Staring at the Stars”.

He said: “I’m looking forward to performing some of my newest songs live on the night to help raise money for the Children in Need appeal.”

Following his appearance in Wirral, Mikey will be hitting the road again for a nationwide Christmas lights switch-on tour.

A busy 2008 has seen the budding star travel the UK club circuit and appear at a string of under-18 clubbing events.

He also performed live at the Epsom Derby and the Carlisle Live festival with X Factor girl band Hope.
