WIRRAL
NEW band Ironhouse play at the Swinging Arm, Birkenhead, on Thursday, October 2. Members are all well-respected Wirral musicians and include Craig Mac on vocals and “Dublin Street Dave” on vocals. The band were formed to play the classic rock tunes of groups like Deep Purple, Status Quo and Thin Lizzy and have already played at the Hotel California and New Ferry Community Festival. The gig starts at 9.15pm.
“THE Beatles - A Musical Celebration” comes to Pacific Road Arts Centre in Birkenhead on Thursday (October 2). The two-hour concert recreates the band’s musical jounrye from 1962 to 1970, including costume changes to reflect the period of the songs. WALLASEY Arts Council’s next event is a Viennese night featuring the Wirral Viennese Players. The event takes place at St Hilary’s Church, Claremount Road, Wallasey on Saturday, October 4, starting at 7.30pm. Tickets are £5, available from Usher Travel in Liscard or on the door.
THE Port Sunlight Players present fantasy comedy “Wyrd Sisters” at Port Sunlight’s Gladstone Theatre from Thursday, October 9-Saturday, October 11. Tickets are £6/5, available from the theatre box office on 643 8757 and 334 3040.
AC/DC tribute Live/Wire is at Pacific Road on Friday (October 3). The band aim to bring the full ‘DC show to fans, complete with cannons, walkways, backdrops and drapes. The show will include the classics “Whole Lotta Love”, “Highway to Hell” and “Back in Black”. Tickets are £13 (£11 concessions), from the box office on 647 0752.
RISING US singer-songwriter Antje Duvekot is appearing at the Telegraph Inn, Mount Pleasant Road, Wallasey, on November 17. Tickets for the gig are £10, available from the Telegraph or from 639 1508.
