Wirral band, The Kings Parade, organise new monthly band night

A NEW monthly music event is being launched this week at The Zanzibar by Wirral band The Kings Parade.

The first gig will take place on Wednesday, August 20, at the bar in Seel Street, Liverpool, and will include music from the Electro/German pop outfit Alice Klar (Toni James).

The Kings Parade, known formerly as Little White Lies, put this night together with the aim of bringing a different sound, rather than that of a usual band night.

Marc Kenny, 26, of New Brighton, sings lead vocals and plays guitar in The Kings Parade.

He said: “Joining me are Nick Ellison on bass, Phil Doran on lead guitar and Paul Hayes on drums.

“We have invited some great acts to perform with us at The Zanzibar, including Liverpool singer/songwriter Samantha Sanderson and Wirral bands, Hudson Fall and Radioshack.

“As we are making this a monthly event, we’d like any bands who want to get involved in September to get in touch via our myspace www.myspace.com/kingsparade”

Marc and the band were chosen to take part in the final of Liverpool’s Got Culture at The Liverpool Echo Arena last week.

He said: “We were picked from 600 artists to be in the final 12 acts and one of the selectors was Jennifer Ellison - so we were pleased to gain a new fan.

“We have also been working hard at various meetings with London-based record labels and have our eye on a large indie label from London who work with several chart-topping bands.

“We will hear from them this week - so at the moment we are just keeping our fingers crossed.”

The Kings Parade’s music event at The Zanzibar starts at 8pm this Wednesday. Entry is £4 on the door.
