Fort Perch Rock to host Dubzone Summer Special showcase for reggae and dub acts
THE Dubzone Summer Special is being held at Fort Perch Rock, New Brighton next month.
Fort Perch Rock was built as a coastal defence battery during the Napoleonic period to protect the Port of Liverpool - but in 2008 it's the place to go for music.
Headlining at Dubzone on Friday, August 15 will be Zion Train, described as “the world’s premier dub act”, supported by Senator Music Machine and F.O.E.
This Dub/Roots/Reggae event is being brought to Wirral by Redder Entertainment and Senator Sound System.
Senator Sound System has been active for many years organising and supporting community events, and for the last two years has organised a monthly resident night on the last Friday of every month at Django’s, Wood Street, Liverpool.
They say they want the Fort Perch Rock event to “allow a wholly under-promoted genre to shine through”.
Simon Barker, of Redder Entertainment said: “Senator Sound System are a conscious sound system and do not promote violence, hatred, racism, sexism or any other isms that may cause offence.
“It is their belief that the great powers of Reggae music are the unity and love which it promotes.
“We strive to promote this idea through our sessions and are looking forward to sharing it with the people of Merseyside at our upcoming event.”
Since its debut event, Dubzone has built a solid, loyal fan base from the Merseyside area, filling venues to capacity regularly each month.
The Wirral show will use a specialist sound system and organisers are promising to bring a unique sound to Fort Perch Rock.
