BRIGHTEN up those dark winter nights with fine dining, not comfort eating – because our annual search for Wirral’s top chefs is back for 2012.
This time around we’re looking for the borough’s number one YOUNG chef – and as ever, our readers will help decide the winner.
In a first for our popular culinary contest, finalists will compete from October to March instead of over the summer – but it doesn’t mean the competition will be any less sizzling.
As before, each will host a Wirral Young Chef of the Year night at their restaurant.
They must prepare a three-course meal using local/regional and seasonal ingredients.
Wirral News readers will be invited to attend and score the chefs.
Those votes will represent 50% of the final score.
The rest of the marks will come from a cook-off between the chefs at Wirral Met College early next year.
And the supermarkets may be putting their prices up but we’re not – the cost will be £18.95, unchanged from last year.
Wirral Young Chef of the Year is kindly supported by Wirral Council, Liverpool Community College and Wirral Met College.
THE six finalists will be revealed on this page over the next few weeks.
