TWO Merseyside eateries have won BBC Olive magazine’s Alternative Restaurant Awards 2011.
Michelin-starred Wirral restaurant Fraiche as well as fashionable Liverpool tea shop Leaf have both been singled out for praise in the awards, which celebrates Britain’s unsung foodie heroes.
The judges described Marc Wilkinson’s Fraiche, in Oxton, as “a revered gastronomic wonderland”, adding: “Wilkinson’s ability to single handedly conjure a stream of jaw-dropping avant-garde dishes for his guests is remarkable.”
