THE Shrewsbury Lodge swapped its menu of European and traditional English food for coffee and cakes to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Care.
Staff rustled up the treats to mark the charity’s annual drive to hold the “world’s biggest coffee morning”, raising £288.
Local business also rallied round to support a raffle, with prizes from the Merebrook Hotel, Home, Christine Lesley and Essence.
The hotel’s Jackie Owens organised the event.
Owner Julie Champion said: “We only found out about the coffee morning a week before so we mainly had to advertise the event through word of mouth.
“I’d like to thank everyone who came along and the businesses who donated prizes for the raffle.”
The Shrewsbury Lodge’s restaurant is now taking bookings for Christmas parties and Christmas day.
The restaurant is also open for Sunday lunch.
Main courses are £9.50 and you can choose from sirloin of beef, roast lamb, pork orfillet of salmon, served with fresh vegetables and home-made gravy.
Other options are a Chicken or Salmon Caesar salad or a vegetarian speciality – Mediterranean veg on a potato rosti with cheddar or stilton sauce.
The Shrewsbury Lodge is at 31 Shrewsbury Road, Oxton.
