JULIAN’S in Hoylake is gearing up for winter with the launch of a brand new menu.
The à la carte menu at Julian’s changes three times a year to coincide with the culinary seasons - and for the winter version, award-winning head chef Julian Davies is promising some innovative new dishes plus old favourites with a twist.
Julian’s was recently rewarded for its commitment to using locally sourced produce and the quality of its food with Made in the North West and Taste Liverpool Highest Quality Assured accreditations - scoring 86% for hospitality and 92% for food.
Julian, who runs the restaurant with his wife Jackie who looks after front of house, said: “The new menu will have all the game, pheasant and venison from the new season.
“I’ve also got a dish on there called Supreme of Chicken Jacqueline - my name’s up on the restaurant so I thought Jackie could have her name on the menu!
“It’s a boneless, free range chicken breast poached in masala with truffle, served with scented wild mushrooms and mangetout.
“I’ve also done a modern take on a Lancashire Hot Pot - it’s stripped back and I’m using a quality lamb loin stacked with carrots, celery and onion, topped with soft sautéed potatoes.”
Julian and Jackie will again be welcoming diners over the festive season with special Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve menus.
Julian said: “We’ve decided to open on Christmas Day because we’ve had so many phone calls asking about it and it’s always a brilliant day. We’re keeping last year’s price as well - £57.50.”
“On New Year’s Eve it’s fine dining with no fuss and no hype. There are plenty of places to go and party and we’ve always done it this way, with a relaxed, quiet atmosphere.”
New Year’s Eve at Julian’s is a five-course menu for £36.50 including home-made haddock chowder, king scallops with pancetta and corn-fed chicken with grilled asparagus.
The Christmas Eve five-course menu is £26.50, with roast Cheshire turkey, rib eye steak and chestnut and mushroom tartlet among the mouthwatering dishes being served up by Julian and his team.
A Christmas Table d’hôte menu is available from December 1 to December 30, excluding Christmas Eve.
