THE Rocket Lights will be transporting music lovers to their happy place next month at Barfly, Liverpool.
The Wirral band, who have been described as a modern day Nirvana, will be supporting Royworld at the gig on September 26, from 7.30pm.
Lead singer Simon Mawson, 17, of Moreton, fronts The Rocket Lights. He is joined by Craig Harris, 19, on drums, Pat White, 19, on bass and Michael Cook, 19, on guitar.
The four guys are really excited about the gig, especially after being let down by a bogus company who promised them a place in The Leeds Festival.
Simon said: “We entered a competition called Festival Unlocked and came second place, which secured us a place at last weekend’s festival.
“But then Festival Republic, the people who run The Leeds Festival, called us up and told us it was all a fake and we didn’t have a place at all.
“We were, and still are, obviously gutted, but after the initial shock and disappointment, we have picked ourselves up.
“We don’t do stressing or grudges, we just do making good music.
“We are now looking forward to what comes next, especially our Barfly gig.
“We are playing with Royworld who are a really popular band – they’ve played the V festival and have a really strong following – with their crowd and ours it should be a great night.”
Tickets for the gig are £6.
