ST ANSELM’S band The Pyramids will reform to pay tribute to the Swinging Sixties and raise funds for Claire House.
The Wirral five-piece is now four. They first formed more than 40 years ago and its members are scattered all over the country - but the beat still goes on.
With band members now living in Wirral, Hertfordshire and Hampshire, rehearsals have been tricky to organise, but the boys are determined to raise cash for the children’s hospice.
In celebration of the sounds that inspired the Mersey beat movement, the line-up has decided to come back together to belt out a few old favourites and fill the dance floor one more time.
The boys, singer Steve Percy, Peter Silcock, bass, Paul Scott, lead guitar and Tony Maher, keyboards, can’t wait to get back into the swing of things after 40 years apart.
The Pyramids are promising dancers that they will have “the hi-fi high and the lights down low” for the night at the British Legion in Pensby Road.
Tony Maher, a teacher by day and on keyboards for The Pyramids by night, said: “It’s great to play to a home crowd.
“We play the music that everyone knows, so it’ll be a really good night.
“We’re all old Anselmians so it’s always fun to play together again.”
l Tickets for the event on August 22 are £12.50. To book call 0151 651 2822.
